Chimpanzees at Kibale Forest National Park

Itinerary

Wake up early, take breakfast and see off for Kibale National Park. The journey to Kibale National Park is long but you will be rewarded with amazing sites of the countryside, national parks, forests, rivers, lakes, large plantations, the intriguing Ankole cattle, trading centers, towns, districts and the ever smiling peasant.On arrival at Fort Portal City, you will have lunch and then go for a tour of this small but very beautiful town. Fort Portal is a known the tourism district of Uganda. Because of the tranquility in the city, the town is arguably the best place to live in Uganda.

After early morning breakfast, you will be taken to Kibale National Park headquarters for the briefing on chimpanzee trekking. The briefing is led by the Park Guides and is all about the rules of tracking chimpanzees, the park and what to expect. After the briefing, the Park Guides will lead you into the forest to find the chimps. Chimpanzee trekking is quite different from gorilla trekking. Chimps stay longer on top of trees compared to gorillas. By the time you get to them, they would have already seen your group. Chimp trekking usually takes between 3 to 5 hours. You only have an hour to observe them. Use the time to take as many photos as you can.
After spending one hour with the chimps, you will be led back to the park offices where you will find the company driver waiting for you. The driver will take you book to the hotel for lunch and rest. Later in the Afternoon, the driver will take you to visit the Bigodi wetlands sanctuary for a nature walk and birding. The Bigodi swamp is one of the best spots of birding in Uganda. Expect to see small monkeys, butterflies and much more.

You will have a very early morning breakfast and then transfer to Semliki National Park, where you will tour Sempaya Female and male Hot Springs. The hottest Hot Springs in Uganda.  You will be educated on the rich history that backs it about, the cultures, among others.

As you will have a guided nature walk to the Springs, where you will site, monkeys, birds, among others.

From the Hot Springs, you will then head transfer to Queen Elizabeth N.P, you will pass by the equator and then you will continue to your lodge in Kasese

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Start the day with an early cup tea/coffee and a nice breakfast before embarking on a game drive along the Queen’s Mile plus the Kasenyi trail. On this trail you will see elephants, water bucks, lions, buffaloes, Uganda Kobs plus warthogs in addition to several birds. Return for breakfast plus lunch at the lodge.

In the afternoon, enjoy a 2-hour boat ride on the Kazinga Channel where you will encounter Buffaloes, Elephants, Hippos, crocodiles plus warthogs among others. This ride will also enable you to see an array of birds for example guinea fowl.

Later you will head back to the lodge for your dinner, rest and personal administration.

After you morning breakfast, set off from Kasese to Bwindi early in the morning at 6am. You will have a moment at the equator and then head to Mbarara where you will have your lunch.

Continue your journey to Bwindi. You will check in at the lodge in Bwindi and rest as you prepare for Gorilla trekking tomorrow. Travel time to Bwindi is around (5 hours).  You are likely to encounter climbing lions through the Ishasha sector as you head to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

On arrival, you will check in at the lodge, have lunch. We have an option of bird watching or nature walk. You will then have a dinner at the lodge, rest and prepare for the next day.

After your early morning breakfast, your guide will drive you to the Park Headquarters for briefing and joining others for briefing before heading into the forest for your gorilla trek. This trek can last for between 30 minutes to 7 hours depending on the location of mountain gorilla family on that particular day.

Once you find the gorillas, you will be allowed to spend time with them while observing their behavior, as your guides tell you more about them, taking photographs before you return to the Park Headquarters for your certificate that confirms that you have tracked gorillas in Uganda.

You will enjoy your morning breakfast as you contemplate on your previous experiences. Then you will head for Kampala through Mbarara, where you will have your lunch. And then continue on your journey to Kampala.
